Garment care
Hand wash
Hand washing will prolong the life of your cashmere sweater by reducing exposure to dry-cleaning chemicals. Use the recommended amount of mild detergent that is specifically intended for fine garments. Do not wring the garment as this may damage the fibers.
Machine wash
Using the wool cycle on your washing machine is also an option for cleaning your cashmere sweater, but only if the temperature can be controlled, no more than 30 degrees.
Drycleaning
Dry-cleaning is another good way to care for your cashmere sweater. However, excessive dry-cleaning can wear out the material.
Drying
Reshape your sweater and lay it flat on a towel away from heat and sun to air dry. Do not hang. Once dry, spray your sweater with water and press it gently. Never tumble dry. Let your sweater rest at least 24 hours between wearing to allow any wrinkles to vanish.
Handling stains
Treat stains as quickly as possible with cold water. Do not use hot water; it may set the stain.
Storage
Fold your cashmere sweater, preferably using sheets of tissue, and store it flat in a cool, dry place. Do not hang on hangers.
